Sectigo – The Rebirth of Comodo CA

New name, same great Certificate Authority

Sectigo is one of the world's leading certificate authorities, with over 100,000,000 digital certificates issued in over 150 countries. With a range of digital certificate offerings from Code Signing and SMIME to all types of SSL, Sectigo has a product to fit nearly any budget.

After splitting from Comodo Group, Comodo CA makes a fresh start

Comodo CA is now Sectigo. Sec-TEE-go. Following the acquisition of Comodo's CA by Francisco Partners in Fall of 2017, the Comodo Certificate Authority was operating in similar economic sectors as Comodo Group, which was continuing to sell all of the traditional Comodo cybersecurity products – sans the digital certificates sold by Comodo CA. This led to a lot of confusion, so Comodo CA decided it was time for a fresh start and recommitment to the ethos that has made it the world's top Certificate Authority.

Thus, Sectigo was born.

Same great Certificate Authority – New Name

Sectigo's DNA is still the same as it's always been—still what made it one of the top commercial Certificate Authorities in the world. With over 100,000,000 digital certificates issued in over 150 countries, a vast number of websites trust Sectigo as their CA. So while the logo, the colors and the site seal are different, you can still expect the same quality and industry-best pricing you've always enjoyed.

A new commitment to website security solutions

Part of the transition from Comodo CA to Sectigo involves a new commitment to being on the cutting edge of the digital frontier. With millions of new IoT devices coming along daily, and new threats to digital encryption posed by the imminent arrival of quantum computing, Sectigo will be leading the way with its website security solutions.

Wait, there's still a Comodo?

Yes. Comodo Group is still a company that sells products like antivirus programs and the cWatch website security stack. But, all digital certificate products...

...previously under the banner of Comodo will now be Sectigo products. This means that the eponymous line of Comodo SSL/TLS certificates will now be the Sectigo line and all other lines will now be "Powered by Sectigo."

Will my certificates say Comodo or Sectigo?

Older certificates still say Comodo, but new certificates issued by Sectigo / Comodo CA now say Sectigo. Whether your certificate says Comodo CA or Sectigo, your website is secured by one of the most trusted names in website security!
